Day 5 – Scenic Switzerland – 21 May 2025

Our two-day Savers Day Pass started from today. It is economical and convenient as we could take any train, bus, boat in the area. It is ideal to go for the Saver Day Pass, the earlier you do, the cheaper it is – its starts from approximately 40 CHF, however we all got it for 61 CHF.

So our itinerary for the day was fluid and we managed to cover :

Eich – Sempach – Lucerne – Interlaken -Beatus Caves- Grindelwald – Lauterbrunnen – Murren – Interlaken – Spietz – Bern – Sursee – Eich – we went South and came back from the Northern route.

Our Travel Map of 21 May 2025

Before we started on trip for the day we clicked a lots of photographs in and around our Airbnb and the bus stop while waiting for our bus to Lucerne.

The weather prediction was cloudy and light rains. We started our journey to the famous Interlaken area. Eich to Luzern to Interlaken by train. And Lo Behold when we reached Interlaken – all us wanted to have a cup of Hot Tea and this is what we got – Ek Dum Kadak Chaddifaad Chai!

We then took the bus to the Beatus Caves (https://www.beatushoehlen.swiss/en) and managed to avoid the rain for that time. The caves were fascinating and the climb up to them offered great views of the lake despite the clouds and the drizzle.

Back towards Interlaken and since it was raining, we quickly boarded for Grindelwald via Shynige platte, though we were distracted for a bit by the offer of Kadak Chai!! Grindelwald is a scenic village with views of the Alps. The rain stayed away and we could enjoy the views while enjoying lunch.

Then we were off to Lauterbrunnen, which is the base point for Murren. Took the cable car up the mountain to Murren but the weather had turned and was so cloudy that no views were possible, so we started our descent back.

The rain increased as we came down towards Interlaken, and we decided to take the train immediately and get back to Eich instead of loitering around. The long train ride took us via Spietz and Bern to Sursee from where we got on our bus back to Eich Dorf.

We got back late in the night and just crashed out. We had a big and long day again tomorrow!

Note: Thanks to J’s drill we were experts at catching trains and buses leaving two minutes later from the furthest platform too. Sprint masters we had become!

Wow – What a Wonderful Day it Was – Simply Superb!
