Day 4 – Milan to Lucerne – 20 May 2025

Lucerne - Beautiful Town in Switzerland!

It was the ‘drag your suitcase’ day as we were off to Lucerne by bus.

In the excitement of reaching the Lampugnano Bus station on time, we reached much before time, and then realised the bus was 55 min delayed. So, we waited and waited and boarded the bus more than an hour later. The wait was worth it because as soon as we crossed into Switzerland….it was Magic!

We always say that India has unparalleled scenic beauty—some of which we have seen up close. So, I always thought how can anywhere else be more beautiful.

Well, Switzerland is just a lot many notches above anything and everything we have seen till date! The scenery was absolutely eye popping beautiful! Every turn on the three-hour bus journey had picture postcard perfect views!

Reached Lucerne and dragged our bags to the station. Figured out tickets and we were off to Eich, the suburb where our lovely Airbnb was. As soon as we settled in, Solvieg, our lovely host, came to meet us and even brought us some local bread!

Eich – is a municipality in the district of Sursee in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland, and is the German part of Switzerland as most people speak German. We were on the East of the Lake Sempacherese, to the North is the town of Sursee and to the South is the town of Semapch, further South is Lucerne. It took approximately 20 to 40 min from Lucerene by train / bus depending on the South or North route respectively. From our Airbnb, the Bust Stop was just 50 metres and also a grocery store – it was extremely convenient!

With enough daylight left, we were off back to Luzern for some sightseeing even though it was raining. Chapel Bridge and the Lion Monument were ticked off our itinerary quickly as the central area of Lucerne is a small one.

We headed back to Eich as we were kind of wet despite the flimsy raincoats. Made rice, dal fry and Maggie and bread for dinner – ate and crashed.
